A Message to Madredeus

Dear Madredeus,

it's hard for me writing something directed to you, because you always think to write badly, to have no authority to make that, or that your mail will never be read, but I have to try. This for various reasons.

The first one resides in your music. I don't know how that music can be a such rich source of inspiration for memories, thoughts, dreams...poems. Your music accompanies the stream of my consciousness without disturbing it, but encouraging it, sustaining it, inspiring it. Your music has been for me like a tree. I began listening to you and it was small, light, thin,.... but it had roots. Roots digging in my heart searching for the water of my soul. The tree slowly grew, continuously, gently and peacefully. The "loves" that I sustained before, were something of explosive proportions, but they quickly reduced to harmful embers. I found that personal relationships, even if precious, are often subject to that enthropic decay but music is over that.... Music violates physic's laws of decay, existence. And your music grew on me, in me, and I'm sure that my soul-water will continue to supply that incredible manifestation of nature, irrationality and art that is this tree.

The second one resides in your concrete existence. In a world in which everything seems devoted to market laws, physic's laws, enrichment laws, your project is like a comet. Something that guide us to some distant shore were human touch has not yet arrived, and will never arrive. That shore is the embrace of the sea of Sorrow and the land of Hope, and the surf is saudade. So, your music, your approach to art, sooth our frightened conscience remembering the existence of feelings. And if feelings exists there is also Hope.

The third one is Teresa, Maria Teresa, Maria Teresa Salgueiro. Well, Teresa I don't know why your voice has substituted the voice of my conscience.

Madredeus, I hope that you are able to understand the greatness of what you are doing.
